1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
FIVEo1 is seeking a first close of US$325,000 to deploy a carrier-neutral telecommunications resilience platform in Guatemala. The platform will combine multi-carrier connectivity, SD-WAN, edge computing, local cloud, cybersecurity, and satellite backup.
The full five-year national platform requires US$2.5 million to US$6 million. A later Central American expansion phase is projected at US$10 million or more.
The first deployment will be a Guatemala City network operations center and edge node inside a carrier-neutral data center. The first commercial product will be FIVEo1 Resilient Enterprise Connect.

3. TAILORED INVESTOR FIT AND APPROACH
A. U.S. Government and Multilateral Development Finance Institutions
Tailored fit:
FIVEo1 has a direct U.S. nexus through FIVEo1 California. The platform will deploy U.S. networking, security, cloud, and satellite equipment. The project aligns with DFC and EXIM priorities for digital connectivity, export of U.S. technology, and Central American economic development.
Proposed ask:
US$1 million to US$5 million in senior debt, loan guarantee, or blended finance for Stage 2 and Stage 3.
Tailored approach:
Submit eligibility memorandum to DFC and EXIM showing U.S. equipment content, local job creation, and development impact. Align with the World Bank US$50 million Smart Public Finance project already approved for Guatemala.
B. Infrastructure and Digital Infrastructure Private Equity
Tailored fit:
I Squared Capital, DigitalBridge, KKR, Macquarie, Brookfield, and BlackRock have active digital infrastructure mandates. FIVEo1 offers a carrier-neutral model that avoids the capital intensity of a national fiber or mobile build while creating recurring enterprise revenue, edge capacity, and interconnection value.
Proposed ask:
US$2.5 million to US$6 million preferred equity for the five-node national platform and IXP.
Tailored approach:
After Phase 1 achieves first enterprise customers and revenue, provide a data room with colocation contracts, multi-carrier agreements, customer pipeline, and financial model. Position FIVEo1 as a scalable regional consolidation platform for Guatemala and Central America.
C. Corporate Strategic Investors
Tailored fit:
Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, and Juniper benefit from SD-WAN and security hardware deployment. Equinix and Digital Realty benefit from carrier-neutral interconnection growth. Microsoft and AWS benefit from local edge and hybrid cloud adoption. Cloudflare and Akamai benefit from local caching and content delivery.
Proposed ask:
US$100,000 to US$1 million in equipment financing, cloud credits, or strategic investment, combined with commercial partnership.
Tailored approach:
Offer vendor-specific pilot deployments. For Cisco and Fortinet, position FIVEo1 as a managed security and SD-WAN reseller operating in Guatemala. For Equinix and Digital Realty, position FIVEo1 as a future anchor tenant and interconnection partner. For Microsoft and AWS, position FIVEo1 as a local hybrid cloud and edge extension.
D. Growth Equity and Venture Capital with Latin America Focus
Tailored fit:
SoftBank Latin America Fund, General Atlantic, Tiger Global, Insight Partners, Valor Capital, Monashees, Kaszek, and IGNIA have invested in Latin American technology and digital infrastructure. FIVEo1 is a high-growth enterprise infrastructure and managed services business with recurring revenue.
Proposed ask:
US$1 million to US$3 million in Series A equity after Phase 1 traction.
Tailored approach:
Demonstrate monthly recurring revenue, customer churn, gross margin, and expansion potential across Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and southern Mexico. Position FIVEo1 as a platform for carrier-neutral connectivity, cloud, and cybersecurity in underserved Central American markets.
E. High-Net-Worth Individuals and Family Offices
Marcelo Claure, Claure Group and Bicycle Capital
Tailored fit:
Marcelo Claure has deep Latin American telecommunications and technology experience through Brightstar, Sprint, and Bicycle Capital. FIVEo1 is a carrier-neutral complement to existing mobile operators and regional digital infrastructure.
Proposed ask:
US$250,000 to US$1 million in equity or convertible note.
Tailored approach:
Direct meeting with FIVEo1 California leadership. Present FIVEo1 as a neutral connectivity and edge layer that can partner with, rather than compete against, existing mobile and fiber operators.
Luis von Ahn, Duolingo
Tailored fit:
Luis von Ahn is a Guatemalan-American technology founder with a clear connection to Guatemala. FIVEo1 directly addresses Guatemala’s Internet Resilience Index of 47/100 and the fact that only 16 percent of the country’s 1,000 most-visited websites are served locally.
Proposed ask:
US$100,000 to US$500,000 as an angel or impact investment for the first close.
Tailored approach:
Frame the investment as Guatemalan digital resilience. Emphasize local content caching, edge computing, educational and government connectivity, and reduced dependence on international routes.
Pierre Omidyar, Omidyar Network
Tailored fit:
Omidyar Network invests in digital identity, connectivity, and emerging-market infrastructure. FIVEo1’s resilience model directly supports digital inclusion and local service continuity.
Proposed ask:
US$500,000 to US$1 million program-related or impact investment.
Tailored approach:
Present FIVEo1 as a digital resilience platform that keeps critical local services available during international outages. Align with Omidyar’s focus on inclusive connectivity.
Guatemalan Industrial Family Offices
Tailored fit:
The Castillo, Paiz, Novella, Bosch, Gutiérrez, Herrera, Cofiño, and Torrebiarte families control major Guatemalan industrial, logistics, agricultural, and distribution businesses. These businesses require reliable connectivity across Guatemala City, Escuintla, Puerto Quetzal, and Puerto Barrios.
Proposed ask:
US$100,000 to US$500,000 per family office for the first close or expansion.
Tailored approach:
Position FIVEo1 as a commercial resilience partner for their own operations. Emphasize reduced downtime for logistics, ports, factories, and back-office systems. Offer board or advisory participation where appropriate.
