Advanced Summary – Module °Fiveo1
°Fiveo1 is a standalone PHP/JavaScript module designed to render a geospatial index of content records that include latitude/longitude coordinates. It retrieves data from an SQLite database, aggregates it into structured JSON, and renders an interactive cluster‑based visualization using Leaflet. The module is composed of four functional layers:
1. Data Layer (Backend)
· Database Query:
Uses a read‑only SQLite connection to fetch id, title, latitude, longitude, location_name, created_at, file_path, and type. Only records with non‑null coordinates are selected.
· Media Path Extraction:
file_path is stored as a JSON array; the first entry is extracted to serve as the direct media URL. If no file is present, the field remains null and no link is displayed.
· Marker Assembly:
Each row is mapped to an associative array with sanitized values, and the full set is JSON‑encoded for client‑side consumption.
2. Presentation Layer (Frontend)
· Leaflet Integration:
Uses Leaflet as the underlying rendering engine with a dark‑styled OpenStreetMap tile layer. The map container fills the viewport.
· Marker Clustering:
Implements leaflet.markercluster to group nearby markers, reducing visual clutter and improving performance. Cluster icons are customised with dark backgrounds and a count label.
· Popup Composition:
Each popup is built dynamically:
· A clickable ° (degree symbol) appears at the top‑left only if a media file exists. The link opens the raw media in a new tab.
· The title (bold) follows, then the location name (if present), and finally the formatted creation timestamp.
· The ° link has zero padding/margin and no underline, styled to blend seamlessly with the dark theme.
3. Interaction Flow
· Initialisation:
On DOMContentLoaded, the marker data is parsed. If no markers exist, a placeholder message appears; otherwise, the map is instantiated and zoomed to fit all markers.
· Cluster Behaviour:
Clicking a cluster zooms to its bounds (via zoomToBounds). Spiders are enabled for large clusters on max zoom.
· Responsiveness:
The map automatically invalidates its size on window resize to adapt to viewport changes.
4. Security & Performance
· Sanitisation:
All output fields (title, location_name) are passed through htmlspecialchars to prevent XSS. The file path is not escaped since it is used in an href but originates from the database (trusted).
· Efficient JSON Encoding:
The marker array is encoded with JSON_UNESCAPED_SLASHES to produce clean URLs.
· Lightweight Dependencies:
External resources (Leaflet CSS/JS, markercluster) are loaded via CDN, reducing server load.
5. The ° Symbol
The degree symbol serves as a minimalist, unobtrusive action button that directly opens the associated media file. Its placement (top‑left) and lack of styling make it the focal point of the popup, overriding any conventional “View” label. This design choice aligns with the module’s aesthetic philosophy: minimal ornamentation, maximal utility. ← All Articles← Home
